Reprint and Fragrance Education: Saving Your Perfume
How To Save Your Discount Fragrance
Discount women's perfumes and discount men's colognes are fast becoming a regular part of the designer wardrobe. Like the clothes that their manufacturers produce, they are expensive and come in many varieties. It is not uncommon for people to own multiple fragrances at one time, perhaps each being used for a separate occasion.
A common question among women perfume lovers is how to know when perfume goes bad. The first indication a perfume is going bad usually comes from the individual's personal sense of smell and how they think that their perfume should smell like.
All perfumes smell slightly different to different noses and off of different skins, as the aroma mixes with natural human oils. It is also natural for the scent of a perfume to lose its effect, or change entirely, over time with an individual's palate. If you are not quite sure whether a perfume has gone bad or you're just getting tired of the smell, here are some ways to check your perfume out.
The first thing you can check is the color of the actual liquid that is inside the bottle. Check every now and then to see if the color of the liquid is turning darker. Generally, darker coloration to a perfume means that it is beginning to turn. Extreme heat and direct sunlight oxidizes the perfume. This causes the water and alcohol to evaporate and the oil to become unstable.
Another signal that this is happening is a sharp change in the aroma. If the color is turning only slightly, the life of the perfume still can be extended: don't throw it away yet. But if the odor becomes sour or has a vinegar smell, its time to dispose of it and move on to something new.
When fragrance is stored and handled properly it can and will last a very long time. Store your perfume at room temperature. If you are not sure about the temperature in your house or apartment, cooler is better than warmer. Liquids expand and contract with temperature changes, so avoid irregular shifts in temperature. You should always keep your perfume away from direct sunlight; store the perfume in a dark area of your bathroom.
Medicine cabinets are perfect for perfume storage. There is a reason, other than aesthetics, that designer boxes are becoming more and more ornate. Keeping the womens fragrance in its box or covered with a cloth will also extend the life. If you do not want to use the fragrance for a extended period you can store it in a closet or even refrigerate the perfume.
One of the biggest things to remember if you are a frequent perfume user is not to leave the fragrance in you car. Not only will this cause the cologne go bad quickly, but it can even explode from the heat. The perfume will get all over your car and you will end up hating the smell of your favorite women's or men's fragrance. This also goes for purses, bags and sunglasses, as well.
But if you're a heavy user of the discount fragrance and you turn it over quickly it will last long enough if left away from direct light. If you avoid extreme temperatures and direct light the fragrance should last a long time. Follow these simple rules and you should be able to enjoy your discount womens fragrances for years to come.
