The international terminal at the San Francisco International Airport is more than a pass through for passengers -- it is an international shopping destination. About a week ago, I had an opportunity to visit the main store in this terminal, DFS Duty Free Galleria. My plane was leaving in about two hours so I decided to kill some time by exploring this shop. I couldn't believe what was available in there. Nearly all of the items in the store were high-end products. It sold fine wines from the top wineries in California, high quality spirits from around the world and clothing and accessories from top designers, such as Burberry and Fendi. As The Fragrance Man, the most important items in DFS were its fragrances. And, it had a very large selection of prestige scents. Some notable fragrances that were sold there were Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf, Gucci by Gucci and Polo by Ralph Lauren.
Unfortunately, there is one major drawback shopping at DFS; you cannot purchase anything there unless you're traveling to an international destination. I learned this from experience. I was about to buy a bottle of port, and the sales clerk told me no. I was very sad.The next time you are traveling to a foreign country or coming back from your international spot, you must take the time to visit DFS Duty Free stores. I'm sure you will enjoy the shopping experience there.
DFS Galleria Stores are located in 14 countries. There are only five shops located in the U.S.: LAX, Hollywood, San Francisco International Airport, San Jose International Airport, and JFK International Airport in New York City. Have fun shopping!!
