The Weekend Report: May 11 - May 17

Interesting things are happening in the fragrance world this week. My favorite and established design houses have launched and will be launching new fragrances. Bobbie Brown, Dsquared2 and Jean Paul Gaultier are coming out with new perfumes and colognes. Famous and luxury non-fragrance brands will be launching new fragrances soon. Porsche will be introducing a speedy new cologne for men, and Waterford, known for its expensive and "the establishment" crystal ware, will be launching a new perfume. Thierry Mugler has partnered with Swarovski Crystal. Another celebrity, tennis star Gabriela Sabatini, is launching a fruity scent. Lisa Hoffman, known for her beauty products, has created cutting edge perfume kits. Finally, a youthful classic perfume by Annick Goutal has turned 10 years old. For more information about this news, read "The Weekend Report."

The Weekend Report: May 11 - May 17

  • Annick Goutal's Petite Chérie is 10 years old. This classic is a blend of "rose, pear and green freshness." To celebrate its anniversary, its bottle will be adorned with angels, pears and roses. (Osmoz.com)
  • Argentine tennis star Gabriela Sabatini will launch Latin Dance in June. Her fruity perfume is a blend of kiwi, papaya, pomegranate, bamboo, lily of the valley, hibiscus, orchid, woods and amber. It will be available as an Eau de Toilette and the perfume will be housed in 20, 30 and 60 ml bottles.
  • Bobbi Brown, the cosmetics goddess, has launched a new perfume that is perfect for work and for individuals who are sensitive to fragrances. This perfume is called Almost Bare, and it is a floral fragrance that "features a delicate balance of inspiring Italian Bergamot blended with Violet Leaves to relax and soothe the senses. The scent is enhanced by a note of Soft Muguet and gentle Jasmine Petals, with a Soft Cedar and Warm Amber background." It is available as a 1.5 oz. Eau de Parfum for $60. • Dsquared2 will launch a feminine companion of its debut fragrance, He Wood. The new fragrance will be called She Wood, and its notes feature three accords: "light (lemon, jasmine, neroli), sap (violet, heliotrope and musk) and wood (cedar, vetiver and vegetable amber)." It will be available as an Eau de Parfum and its juice will be in 30, 50 and 100 ml bottles.
  • Jean Paul Gaultier has introduced a new summer fragrance for men called Eau de Cologne du Male. (Scented Salamander)
  • Lisa Hoffman has created the "Variations" kits. Each fragrance in each kit will represent different parts of the day: morning, work day, evening and night variations. This line comes as three scents: Tunisian Neroli (orange blossom, amber and lemon), French Clary Sage (linen, cotton, bergamot and sage) and Tuscan Fig (fig, white flowers, vanilla and precious woods). • Porsche will be coming out with a new fragrance for men in October. Partnering with Azzaro, a subsidiary of Clarins, Porsche's new cologne will be called Essence. Artical, juniper, blueberry, coriander, black pepper, pine, fir balsam, patchouli and incense are the feature notes of this future newbie. It will be in 50 and 80 ml Eau de Toilettes. • Waterford, the famous and upscale crystal ware maker, will be debuting a fragrance called Lismore. Waterford's Master Craftmen will give the fragrance's bottle an unique design. After the perfume is gone, the crystal bottle transforms into an exquisite vase. "'Primary top notes' are water lily, freesia, ylang ylang, rose, and mandarin; 'Primary middle notes' are carnation, peony, night blooming jasmine; 'Primary base notes' are orchid vanilla, precious woods, musk, and violet."
